Karate Uniform
Karate uniforms are very distinctive. They are designed for simplicity and freedom of movement. They are made of a light cloth and are monochromatic in almost all cases. The coloring of a karate uniform depends on the school of martial arts a student is following. It can also vary based upon that student’s level of achievement, as well as the specific dojo the student attends.
Karate pants make up the bottom of karate uniforms. They are lightweight fabric, either cotton or a synthetic blend. They come with elastic waists, either a drawstring style or an elastic band sewn into the waistline. They do not require a belt; karate belts serve a more ceremonial purpose than a functional one. The pants should be fitted loosely rather than snugly so that the wearer has complete range of movement.
Karate jackets are similarly loose garments that comprise the other half of a karate uniform. They can be sleeveless, short sleeve, or long sleeve in design. They are usually attached via interior buttons or ties to avoid presenting a snagging hazard during sparring. Many formal jackets also contain loops for affixing the karate belt. Again, range of movement is the primary consideration in the garment, so when trying the jacket on be sure that you can twist, turn, and move your arms freely.
